Colorblock Necklace

Everybody these days loves some colorblocking, no?  Jump on the bandwagon with this simple little project.

Materials:  1" Wooden Craft Block, Painter's Tape, Craft Paint, Paint Brushh, Drill, Pliers, Chain, Head Pin

For some reason, this seems like a lot of supples, but these were all things I had around.  In fact, I just hijacked the chain from another mult-strand necklace that I already owned.

Directions:  Tape the block off for the color blocking pattern of your choice.  I went with a simple half triangle pattern.

Paint.

Drill a small hole through the center of the painted block.

Put the jewelry head pin through the hole, trim, and create a loop.  I would include the details for how to do this here, but I learned myself from jewelry-making 101 tutorials around the web.  This video is decent, if a little long. 

Using two pairs of pliers helps with the next few steps.  You can use the pliers to open the links of of the chain.

...in order to attach the chain to the head pin loop. 

I made mine as a Y chain.  You do this by opening up a link and attaching it midstrand.  Since this is a long one, no need for clasp.

Your finished work is super simple but pretty cool.
