Try This: Ombre Mini-Taper Candle Holders
As you may recall from my post on Monday, I may or may not have a problem with acquiring things -- many of which I arguably do not need. For example, I recently ordered myself a box of the most adorable mini taper candles from Sweet Shop Lulu. While I totally failed my husband on his birthday this year (i.e. no cake), they've at least served to inspire this little ombre mini taper candle holder project.
Materials: 3 mini taper candles, 15 - 1/2" square wooden blocks, white paint, black paint, paint in the color of your choice, paint brush, drill and drill bit slightly smaller than your mini-taper candles, craft glue
ONE: In the center of three of the wooden blocks, drill a hole about 2/3 of the way through.
TWO: Mix five shades of the color of your choice (I chose a color that matched my candles) by mixing in black paint for your darkest shade and white paint for your lighter shades.
THREE: For each shade, paint three blocks -- painting the blocks with holes the lightest shade.
FOUR: Glue five blocks together, beginning with the darkest shade up to the lightest shade with the drilled hole. As you can see in the pic, I ended up adding a little wooden disc on the base for a little extra stability.
FIVE: Add your candles, and have a party!
Simple as it is, it's a fun little project, no?

These are awesome!! I love them! I'm glad to have found a kindred crafting soul!
