Semi DIY: Teeny Tiny Photo Display

Fabric Paper Glue | Semi DIY: Teeny Tiny Photo Display

I am not a scrapbooker, but lately, I seem to find a little gem every time I venture down the scrapbooking aisle at the craft store. This time: a little set of corked glass domes. I love family photos, but I don't love cluttering my shelves with a full-on gallery. I decided to turn these cute little domes into the teeniest tiniest photo display - a perfect way to integrate a few little pics that I love!

I formatted a few of my favorite family pics to approximately teeny by tiny, print them, cut them, and placed them in the little domes.

Now, my new little collection demurely dons my pretty new bedroom built-ins. What would you have done with these little domes?

Semi-DIY: Gilded Drawing Figure

Fabric Paper Glue | DIY Gilded Drawing Figure

I know I'm really breaking ground with this one. But seriously, this project proves that a simple wooden drawing figure from the art store is yet another item that looks pretty darn good with a coat of gold spray paint. And bonus! This project got the Michael stamp of approval for its resemblance to C-3PO.

Semi-DIY: Mounted Paper Flowers

Fabric Paper Glue | Semi-DIY: Mounted Paper Flowers

When done well, crepe paper flowers are so beautiful. You can make them yourself with tutorials like Martha Stewart's, or you can buy them from some great artists like The House That Lars Built or Adorn Flowers. It goes without saying that one of these flowers' best qualities is that they never perish, and because of that, I like the idea of displaying them in a creative but ultra simple way that lets the art of the flower itself really shine. Because in this case I let the paper artists do the work, I'm filing the super simple mounting of these beauties under "semi-DIY." Read on for more pics and details.

Semi-DIY: Agate Coasters

Semi-DIY Agate Coasters 1

Look at 'em.  Aren't they gorgeous?  I first discovered gilded-edged agate coasters when I rounded up my favorite gold barware.   But, um, $140 for a set of coasters is a bit steep, no?  Read on to learn how I got the same look for less than twenty bucks and only a teeny tiny bit of DIY.
